Gardner Dam Patrol Site Canopies

Each campsite has white patrol canopies. Each will accommodate one or two patrols. Cooking and eating must be on the established canopy sites.

How To Register for Camp 2008

Complete a Summer Camp (pdf) Campsite Reservation Form.

Campsites are arranged by patrols and are equipped with latrine, washstand, water faucet, white patrol canopies and patrol picnic tables. You may put your tents where you like within the site. No tents are provided. Be sure to bring your own.

Any unit not meeting the minimum site capacity by March 1, may have another unit assigned to their campsite by the Bay-Lakes Council Camping Department.

 

The Camp Staff is making every effort to make this summer camp experience a happy and memorable one for every Scout attending.

Fee Schedule Boy Scout Payment Sheet

  • $200 per week for each Scout if their first payment of $100 is paid on or before March 3, 2008, and a second and final payment of $100 is paid on or before May 2, 2008.

  • $225 if fees are paid after March 3, 2008.

  • Make your first payment by March 3, and you save $25.00.

 

  • Webelos

Any Webelo or new Boy Scout transferring into the unit receives the $200.00 rate. Please mark "new Scout" on the roster.

  • Refund of Camping Fees

    The $50.00 campsite reservation fee is nonrefundable.

    Fees may be transferred to another youth not currently signed up to attend camp.

  • Refunds will be issued only in extreme health or emergency cases. To apply, contact the Center for Scouting. If approved, refunds will be issued after camp attendance and payment records have been audited. Approved refunds will be credited to the unit account unless indicated differently on the request form. Refund request form

    Leader Fees

    All leaders will be charged $75.00 per person per week.

    Meal Charges

    Breakfast....$4.00 Lunch....$5.00 Dinner....$6.00 or $15.00 per day

- The camp fee does include accident and health insurance for Bay-Lakes Council Units. Out of council must provide their own insurance.

 


Campsite Reservation Policy

To choose a campsite simply call the Center for Scouting in Appleton 1-800-372-6887. The camping department will let you know what sites are still available. After you select a site complete a Summer Camp Reservation Form. Send it to the Camping Dept. at the Center for Scouting in Appleton with the $50.00 site reservation fee within two weeks of making the reservation with her. The reservation fee is transferable to another Bay-Lakes Council camp but is nonrefundable.


Reservations for Summer Camp 2008

 

Reservations are now being accepted at the Center for Scouting in Appleton or at camp after the opening date of camp for 2008.

 

Between June 1, and June 7, troops that wish to reserve the same site for the same week in 2008 will be given preference for that site within this period. This is the only exception to the first come, first served rule.

 

To make a reservation, simply complete a Campsite Reservation Form, available at any Bay-Lakes Council service center or Bay-Lakes Council summer camp. Return the completed form to the Center for Scouting in Appleton along with your $50.00 site reservation fee. (The reservation fee is transferable to another Bay-Lakes Council camp but is nonrefundable.)

Camperships

No Scout will be denied the opportunity to go to summer camp because of finances. The Bay-Lakes Council is committed to financially assisting Scouts and their families provided there is an effort to raise funds, and the Campership Application is received in the Center for Scouting in Appleton by June 1.

 

All campership requests must be on the most recent copy of the Campership Application. Send the application by June 1, to:

Applications are available at all Bay-Lakes Council Service Centers. All camperships are on a need basis and the council does not grant full camperships.


BSA Registration Requirements

  • Only registered members of Scout troops or registered youth members of Explorer units can be accepted as campers. At least one adult leader must be a registered member of the Boy Scouts of America, but all units must have two deep leadership for the entire week.

    Troop Leadership in Camp

    The ideal way for a troop to camp at Gardner Dam is by patrols and under its own adult leadership. It is the responsibility of the troop committee to provide the best possible leadership.

    The National Council of the Boy Scouts of America requires that each troop must have at least two adult leaders in camp at all times! One of these must be 21 years of age or older, the other at least 18 years of age, and one must be registered.

    Additional full-time leaders are encouraged to attend.


    Letter to Employer

    If you are an employee, Gardner Dam Scout Camp will, upon request, send a letter to your employer telling them that you are a leader of boys and that your dedication and leadership at summer camp is important in the lives of young persons. If you wish the camp to send such a letter, please inform the camp director, A letter will then be mailed directly to your employer.


    Insurance

  • Each camper and leader is covered by health and accident insurance paid by the Bay-Lakes Council.


    Health Care

    Health Forms

    All campers (Scouts and adults) are required to have their completed Health and Medical Record and Evaluation Form with them when they check in on Sunday afternoon or upon their arrival during the week. All Scout Health and Medical Record Forms must be signed by a parent or guardian. Leaders should ensure that the troop's medical records comply with the following policy:

    If under 40 years of age: A health history revised within the past 12 months and a physical examination conducted within the past 36 months are required of each camper and adult under 40 years old. A copy of the physical form must be attached to the health history. A parent or guardian must attest to the validity of the health history and physical examination for those under the age of 18.

    If 40 years of age or older: Adults over 40 years old must show evidence of physical examination within the past 12 months.

    A trained health officer is on duty at all times, and arrangements have been made with nearby hospitals and doctors to handle emergency treatment. The troop is responsible for providing an adult leader and transportation to the hospital or doctor for all non-emergency cases unless an ambulance has been called.

    Medication Cards

    State of Wisconsin and the Boy Scouts of America require all medications brought to camp by campers (under 18) to be secured and locked in the camp health lodge.

    The medication must be in the original prescription bottle and include the following information:

  1. Camper's name

  2. Name of prescribing physician

  3. Prescription number

  4. Date prescribed

  5. Name of medication

  6. Directions for use

    A medication card is required for each type of medication to be taken at camp. The medication card must contain all the required information and the signatures of the parent and prescribing physician. The medication card must accompany the health form and be brought to camp on the first day of camp.
